testing

Testing for picture.

Coldest day in Chicago.

It is winter in Chicago, in fact the coldest day in years, the perfect day I think to start my own blog.  Since this is kind of a trial run I will be brief today.  I am a big fan of Chicago summers but even I must admit that I have always found our city at it's most raw and real in the dead of winter.  I admire filmmakers that have the guts to shoot here in winter, Andrew Davis's the Fugitive ranks as one of my favorite Chicago movies of all time in part because it showcases the city in winter.  Perhaps it is because Chicago is known for it's toughness, city of big shoulders and all that and it takes guts to deal with the sub-zero temperatures this time of year.  One could say that nearly everything in our city is intense from our sports to our politics to our buildings and that is also exemplified in our weather so when it is cold you shiver but Chicago allows us to live that life which can be found in few other places in the United States or for that matter the world.  So the next time I feel tempted to complain
about Chicago winters I will always remind myself that it is simply part of the intensity of life in this great city.
